New research from a collaboration between the Royal College of Music and University College London has shown that a ten week group drumming program decreases depression and anxiety and increases social resilience and mental wellbeing. Furthermore, these changes were maintained three months later. In addition, the drumming also led to increases in anti inflammatory activity in the immune system suggesting that drumming is positive for both psychological and biological effects.
